Dedicated to helping families create comfortable homes since 2025

Our Story

From Station Yard to Community Lifeline

The Lifeline Station was established in 2025 with a simple but powerful mission: to help those in financial hardship by providing essential household items they need to create a comfortable home.

Based at The Old Station Yard Building on Station Road in Yate, we have transformed a historic railway building into a hub of community support. Our location serves as both a collection point for donated items and a showroom where referred clients can select the items they need.

What started as a small initiative has grown into a vital community resource, serving hundreds of families across Yate, South Gloucestershire, and the wider Bristol area. We work in partnership with local councils, housing associations, and support agencies to ensure items reach those who need them most.

What Drives Us

Our Mission & Values

Our Mission

To relieve those in need, by way of financial hardship, through the provision of household furniture, white goods, and other household items.

We believe that everyone deserves to live in a comfortable home, regardless of their financial circumstances. By redistributing quality household items, we help families create living spaces where they can thrive.

Our Vision

A community where no one goes without essential household items, and where generosity connects those who have with those who need.

We envision a sustainable cycle of giving where donated items find new homes, reducing waste while supporting vulnerable families in our community.

Compassion

Treating every person with dignity and understanding

Community

Working together to support our neighbours

Sustainability

Reducing waste through item redistribution

Integrity

The Process

How We Work

Our referral-based system ensures items reach those who need them most

The Referral Process

We operate on a referral basis to ensure our limited resources reach those in greatest need. Referrals come from:

Local Council Services: Social services, housing departments
Housing Associations: Housing officers and support workers
Charities: Citizens Advice, food banks, support organisations
Faith Organisations: Churches and community groups
Health Services: Social prescribers, NHS link workers

What Happens Next?

Once referred, clients can visit our showroom at The Old Station Yard to select items they need. For larger items like furniture and white goods, we can arrange delivery to their home.

Powered by Volunteers

The Lifeline Station runs primarily on the dedication of our volunteer team. From sorting and cleaning donated items to helping clients select furniture and organising deliveries, our volunteers are the heart of everything we do.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds - whether you can spare a few hours a week or want to get more involved, there's a role for you. Many of our volunteers have been with us since day one, and some have even been previous clients who wanted to give back.
